EAST INDIA ELEVATORS LTD. was commissioned to provide high-performance vertical transport systems for the Salma Dam hydroelectric and irrigation project, one of the region’s most significant multipurpose infrastructure assets. Our scope included the installation of several passenger-cum-goods elevators with capacities up to 1500 kg designed for travel heights in excess of 100 metres, facilitating the safe and efficient movement of personnel, tools, and equipment throughout the dam structure and associated powerhouse facilities.
The Salma Dam officially known as the Afghan-India Friendship Dam is an earth and rock-fill embankment dam on the Hari River that serves as a critical source of hydroelectric power and irrigation water for western Afghanistan. It supports an installed capacity of approximately 42 MW of power generation and provides water storage of more than 630 million cubic metres, enabling irrigation of up to 75,000 hectares of agricultural land and contributing to regional economic resilience and energy access.
This project presented unique engineering demands due to site complexity, extended vertical travel requirements, and the need for reliable industrial-grade lift systems that integrate smoothly with large-scale civil works while meeting rigorous performance and safety standards.

The elevator systems installed at Salma Dam enhance operational efficiency and safety across one of the region’s most vital infrastructure projects. By providing reliable vertical movement solutions for personnel and goods, EAST INDIA ELEVATORS LTD. contributes to improved accessibility, smoother workflows, and strong support for the dam’s mission of power generation and irrigation water distribution reinforcing our commitment to delivering engineered vertical transport excellence in complex industrial environments.
